Revised History – Does Psalm 12 Speak To Us Today?
Psalm 12 in the Holy Bible could almost have been written for us in our day.
Vs 1 notes how the godly man ceases and the faithful fail. Vs 2 notes the vanity to each other and their double hearts. It doesn’t mention the double tongues but that is the implication. You might remember that the Indian chief, Ten Bears, in the old movie “Outlaw Josey Wales” said “It is too bad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues.” That’s mostly an accurate statement.
If we look at our present situation, who from the government that speaks to us does not lie to us–from the President on down to his press secretary, and on down to many congresspersons? We are constantly lied to, and about, by many government personalities.
There are a few in government and the media that do not lie to us. Unfortunately, they are a minority and the lying, managed “news” media work to silence their truthful voices whenever possible.
Most of government and the “news” media are aptly described in verse 4. They seek to prevail with their lying tongues–and in so many words they actually say “Our lips are our own: who is lord over us?” Vs. 3 is their answer to that question, as well as vs. 5. However, at this point they are paying no attention. So when the Lord speaks to them their ears are stopped.
Yet the word of the Lord is pure as purified silver, and it shall be preserved for the remnant from this apostate generation. The last verse of Psalm 12 really describes our present national situation–“The wicked walk on every side when the vilest men are exalted.” In this country now, the vilest of the vile, both in government, the media, Big Tech and the “entertainment” media are being exalted, along with their evil schemes and agendas. Their evil plans must be exposed and opposed, and the Lord’s people need to be leading the way in that effort, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
