Revised History – “Little Ivy-Covered North Koreas” PDF
The title of this article is something writer William Lind said years ago. He was referring to many of the colleges and universities in this country and he labeled them as “little ivy covered North Korea’s.” I felt the description was quite appropriate Lind was referring to the almost total lack of free speech and expression on most college campuses.
Over the years I have observed that any colleges I had any experience with leaned to the left in what they wanted their students exposed to. A college back on the East Coast I am familiar with, back in the 1970s had an identified Communist in for several weeks to speak to some of their students. He claimed to be a “community organizer”. Does that title ring any bells? We had a president who claimed to be the same thing.
One of the local pastors called the college and complained about this Communist being there to influence the students and the man at the college he talked to said “We want our students exposed to all different viewpoints.” You can bet the farm that if someone from the John Birch Society had asked to come in and address the students the people that ran the college would not have wanted their students exposed to his viewpoint! Most colleges today want their students exposed to all the viewpoints on the left to the total exclusion of anything patriotic or conservative from the right.
Mark Levin has observed in his book “American Marxism” that: “America’s colleges and universities are among the most intolerant environments for administrators, faculty, and students alike who dare to cross any of the various intersecting Marxist movements that dominate on campus. Indeed, academic freedom and free speech, once considered foundations of higher education, are no more. The intolerance and cancel culture have spread to outright discrimination in hiring, promotion, grants and publication of professors and graduate students who do not abide the ideology demanded by the campus revolutionaries. Over 4 in 10 US and Canadian academics would not hire a Trump supporter…in the US over a third of conservative academics and PhD students have been threatened with disciplinary action for their views; while 70% of conservative academics report a hostile departmental climate for their beliefs…”
Levin also noted that “Unfortunately, taxpayer-funded elementary and secondary schools have not escaped the politicization of thought and learning. In fact they are now the target of such authoritarian efforts.” But, then, as I have noted in previous articles, that is nothing new. It has been going on for decades. Most people are not aware of this because the political leftists control the “news” media and the educational field in the main and they take particular pains to downplay any opponents to their agendas, labeling them as “racists, hillbillies, insurrectionists” etc.
Opposition to their statist agenda is growing, but people need to realize there will be a price for exposing the leftists and you need to be willing to pay that price if you take them on
Exposure of evil always comes with a price nowadays, as it always has. Make no mistake about it–the agenda of the political and theological left is an evil agenda and must be exposed and opposed. May God give us people willing to do that with His help. And we need His help, for in our own strength we can’t do anything.
